How to choose safety glass

• There are two ways in which safety glass can work: tempering or laminating. Tempered glass is made by treating the glass very carefully as it is heated and cooled to increase its tensile strength, making it hard to break.

• Before purchasing any glass fixtures, it's wise to check on commercial regulations in your area. Using tempered safety glass may be mandatory in some communities, because when it shatters, large, sharp shards are avoided.

• Tempered glass is tougher than ordinary glass, but still requires care when handling.
